Goliath

2019 - 2021

Goliath was an extremely special goat to us, and Ryan and I are beyond heartbroken.
From the time I stumbled upon the ad on Craigslist offering this adorable little white goat for sale, I knew I had to have him. He was already named but it was perfect, because he looked kind of cream colored and when I was little and would make my brother play Breyer horses with me, “his” horse was an American Cream Draft horse named Goliath and this little goat reminded me of those memories.
Although I only had two years with Goliath, he was a big part of our family and we loved spending time with him. He was in your pocket, would follow you around, tugging on your shirt until you stopped and listened to him tell you all about his day. He was a very vocal goat. He loved bananas and their peels, equally. He enjoyed goldfish crackers, and the occasional Cheeto (if Marshall would allow him to get any). We brought him inside to watch TV when he was smaller, he enjoyed shows like Homicide Hunter on ID. We brought him to take pictures with Santa at a RVA cidery. He was very expressive but almost always looked so serious. I called him my serious goat. But he was fun loving and adventurous from a very early age — just ask the Henrico Animal Control we may have had to bail him out of jail once . He had the best personality that I will forever ever miss.
I am also very sad for Goliath’s “step-brother” and best friend, Freddy, as they were inseparable. Freddy will see us come to the barn and he’ll be sitting off by himself, he jumps up and heads over, as if to ask us “any word on Goliath?” I hate thinking about how he too is losing his best friend. We bought Freddy to comfort Goliath after a tragic loss we suffered when Goliath was little.. Freddy lifted Goliath’s spirits and they became fast friends who would cuddle up together at every nap time and every night… my heart hurts for Freddy as he doesn’t know his friend isn’t coming home…. GOLIATH PASSED AWAY DUE TO COMPLICATIONS MOST LIKELY FROM AN ELECTROLYTE IMBALANCE CAUSING CARDIOVASCULAR ISSUES UNDER ANESTHESIA.
Goliath, my white goat. Our prodigal son. My “baby G”, “Mini G-Man”, you were too young to leave us and I had planned on having you until you grew old. I planned on having you when I finally got my own little farm. Life just doesn’t seem fair sometimes. You weren’t suppose to go this soon and I tried so hard to ensure you would be receiving great care.. I don’t know what happened. I can’t wrap my head around this, as just a week ago you were perfectly fine. I hope you met up with Nemo, as he’s new to Heaven too. Rest easy Baby G. We’ll look after Freddy for you.
