Today I had to say goodbye to my best friend of 16 years.
Candy wasn’t just my dog. She was my comfort. She was my safe place. She came with me from Connecticut to Virginia — through every season of my life. Breakdowns. Comebacks. Loss. Growth. Love.
If you knew me, you knew I had Candy.
She wiped my tears when I cried. She laid with me when I felt like I had nothing left. She celebrated my wins and sat quietly with me in my losses. She watched movies with me like she understood every word. She was there before marriage, and she was there after — and Quan loved her like she was his own, even when she gave him a hard time in the beginning.
My mom loved her. My grandma loved her. And it brings me peace knowing they’re angels now… and she’s with them. 🤍
Sixteen years is a long, beautiful life. And she lived it good. She was loved deeply every single day.
Candy, thank you for choosing me. Thank you for growing with me. Thank you for being more than a dog — you were my heart.
